Never again..
Over the course of the last 6 years, I've had to migrate all of my personal mail, web, etc. hosting no less than 7 times. Sometimes because I grew out of the server I had, sometimes the old one melted down (sort of), sometimes I had to move because I switched jobs, sometimes I just got fed up with my co-lo..
Yesterday, I was doing it again as I was moving everything into a set of virtual machines (one for MySQL, one for Apache, one for dovecot/postfix, etc.), and suddenly it dawned upon me: This is probably the last time, I'll ever have to do this.
If I grow out of the machine, want to switch to a different co-lo, or whatever, I'll just move the virtual machines over to the new box. No tedious reinstallation of everything, getting everything properly integrated, etc. Just copy the disk images and domain descriptions, and I'm good. I'm actually looking forward to it now :)
